Carolyn Ann Leimomi Costa, 77, of Hilo died Dec. 24 at home. Born in Olaa, she was retired from the insurance industry, worked for several attorneys in Honolulu and Hilo and was under the care of Hawaii Care Choices and Metro Care Hawaii. No services. She was cremated and ashes scattered at sea. Survived by husband, Wendell J. Costa of Hilo; sons, Warren J. Costa of Puna and Lee J. (Ayaka) Costa of Hilo; daughter, Lisa Ann L. Patrick “Pat” Duane Kealoha Kamakau Pastor, 77, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 20 at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Wailuku, Maui, he was a supervisor for the Minit Stop retail stores, ramp worker and security officer for the former Aloha Airlines, bus driver for Hilo Hattie’s, U.S. Army veteran, past commander of Veterans of Foreigh Wars, Kona Chapter, and member of American Legion Post 20 and Kona Elks Club. Celebration of life service 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Luncheon to follow at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona. Kel Stenoien, 80, of Sutherlin, Ore., formerly of Hilo, died Jan. 11 at home. Born in Everson, Wash., she worked for the Seattle Police Department, the Multiple Schlerosis Society, was a poll worker in Hilo, and loved knitting and reading, gardening, puzzles and folk music festivals. No services. No flowers; memorial donations to local foodbanks and nonprofit housing organizations.
